A Study on the Removal Effects of Heavy Metals in Recycled Reactor Using Chitosan Membrane

Abstract
The chitosan solution was prepared by dissolving chitosan powder into 3.2 wt% acetic acid solution. The average molecular weight and the degree of deacetylation of the chitosan were determined to be 50,000 and 90%, respectively. The chitosan solution was casted a certain thickness on glass, so that made membrane. This work absorbed a harmful heavy metal in waste water using the chitosan membrane. Compared steady-state and batch recycle system, Absorption capacity was higher in case of using the apparatus. The optimum exchange time of the membrane in the continuous process was determined to be 4 hr. Absorbed heavy metal on chitosan was confirmed by FT-IR and analysis of sample concentration used ICP.
